My Sweet Wife

My wife loves to eat fudge. She even makes her own fudge. Everything stops for her when she sits down to eat her piece of fudge. She gets her drink, ignores the kids, and finds a nice, little corner of the couch to curl up in. I think it must provide her with the one reprieve from her tornado that is her reality. During this time, she allows her entire world to completely slip away, substituting it for a world totally devoid of things such as children, husbands, and household chores. My wife goes to her happy place when she eats a piece of fudge.

The Silent Storm

The lifeless shards of ice, now laying in martyred piles of eerie silence below their decimated victim, resemble the bits of glass cast down from a recently broken window. Once suspended in a glorious landscape of sparkling color and light, all their quieted form tells of now is a story of defeat and destruction. As the rain fell, and the temperature dropped, the ice built up its suffocating grip around every exposed branch and limb, using the tree’s own mortal enemy – gravity – to bring it down.

How could such a simple act of freezing rain, and combination of weather, cause as much dramatic change and structural damage, as to so radically alter this tower’s appearance? How ironic is it then that this seemingly indomitable and impervious pillar of strength and fortitude would succumb to these subtle attacks of such inestimable devastation!?

gas expires

Did you know that gas expires? Apparently, if it sits around long enough it will break down and start eating away at whatever it can. All those %s of chemicals that make up this fluid gold we burn eventually separate like vinegar in water. Lucky for us, since we burn through this precious commodity so quickly, we never have to worry about its expiration date…Or do we?

*disclaimer: for those of you too dense to get my double meaning, we are, in fact, at great risk of another kind of expiration in regards to this god we call gasoline: when its expiration =s extinction.

fat suits

Have you ever seen those fat suits on tv or movies? There have been numerous times when celebrities have donned fat suits to tell a story. Courtney Cox; Eddie Murphy; Gwyneth Paltrow. But you know what you never see? Celebrities putting on skinny suits. I guess that’s not possible, is it!?
